Misplaced Faith

Soon we will swear in the 44th president of the United States. For many, this is a very exciting time. Filled with hope and promise of a new tomorrow. For others, it is a sign that the end of the world is near. No matter how you feel about President Elect Obama, he is only a man, the same as the previous 43. He can only do what the Master allows. He cannot increase your bank balance or insure your retirement on his own.

Each of us should reevaluate who we place our faith in. If Barack Obama is our savior, there is trouble on the horizon. Since God is the only One who promised to supply all of my needs (Phil. 4:19), He is the only one that I can count on 100% of the time.

With that said, join me in continuing to pray for our elected leaders. Pray for their marriages and their integrity. Pray for their sanity and their children. Ask God to ensure their safety and well-being. They have a big responsibility. They wear many hats. The Bible admonishes us to respect and honor elected officials. There are no clauses for party affiliations. But respecting them does not mean worshiping them or expecting them to repair all that ails our economy. Change will come as God allows it. Whew! I am glad to know that.
